A Sacred Moment ...

Today we gathered as a church to initiate a family into membership by rite of baptism. It was a beautiful moment as we baptized a father and his three young children.

Scrapbook Extravaganza ...

We had such a wonderful time at the scrapbook evening at the church. I gave the same elements to each woman, and we came out with 18 very different scrapbook layouts. It was really amazing! We have decided to make this a weekly event -- so join us on Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM in Vinton, LA at the Welsh Memorial United Methodist Church. We will have a spot ready for you.

Going to the Animals ... of the Alexandria Zoo

I spent the early part of the week at the clergy retreat at the Wesley Center in Woodworth, LA. Free time is part of the process of retreat and I spent my free afternoon at the zoo in Alexandria. The weather was chilly, but pleasant. The animals are so beautiful. I particularly loved the jaguar -- he was sleeping peacefully when I walked up, but my presence raised an alarm and he had to check me out. It wasn't long before he realized I was no threat and he went back to his afternoon nap.

Mardi Gras, Vinton Style ...

Mardi Gras came a bit early to Vinton, LA. The rains held off, the Gumbo was perfect, the King Cake was sweet, and a good time was had by all.

A House Divided -- Super Bowl Party

We gathered on Sunday, February 1, for a great party -- great food, great friends, great football.

This party was the brain child of the Vice/McClelland/O'Quinn families and if I ever need to throw a party -- I am coming to them!

The house was truly divided and there was a rumble going on. Most of us hoped that those Cardinals would pull it out, and it sure looked for a time like they would. Maybe next year.
